Low energy electron-molecule collisions are investigated by use of a crossed beam double trochoidal electron spectrometer. Differential cross sections are measured for direct and resonant vibrational and electronic excitation of N2, CO, CO2 molecules, at 0 and 180 degrees. In order to separate contributions of forward and backward scattered electrons the pulsed mode of operation with the time-of-flight technique was employed. Very high energy resolution has been achieved. By using our experimental results transport properties of investigated gases are calculated by means of advanced Monte Carlo technique developed in our laboratory.
